Can I have Acid 2.0 and 4.0 both installed? -ACID Product Family

I was also using some of the Acid3-era Sonic Foundry DirectX plug-ins. I just bought acid pro 4.0 and windows xp pro. I wiped my drive and installed winxp (don't worry, i have all my acid projects and sound files on a separate drive). shortly after that i installed acid pro 4 and opened up some of my acid 2 projects. They all loaded up fine, except for the effects. I see that the effects engine in 4 has been overhauled since 2 (and for the better!). But some of my old projects have sounds that were totally dependent on the effect I put on it, and now they're gone. So I'm not sure if this is possible, but I want to be able to have those old effects on my tracks in Acid Pro 4. So would any of these work? (a) install Acid 2 and the old plugin effects alongside Acid 4? (b) Somehow try to mimic the old effects with the new ones (by manually copying down all the old effect parameters? (yuck!)) (c) Reinstall WinXP, install Acid 2.0 first, and then install acid pro 4.0 over that? I do have a ghost image of my old 98SE setup, so I can go right back into that and start messing with Acid 2 again, so if I have to, I'll just do Mix To New Track with the FX on and continue on with my life, but it would be nice to not have to generate a bunch of new wav files. I hope someone out there can help. I'd be very appreciative.

Reply by: MyST Date:8/6/2004 7:06:48 AM At one time I had Acid Rock 2.0, Acid Pro 3.0 and the demo for Acid 4.0 installed on XP. 2.0 seemed to work fine. My girls wanted to "play around" with Acid (the good kind), so I installed 2.0 for them to use. Pro 4.0 was daddy's toy. Now they've grown up enough that I won't have to worry about them mangling my templates and settings, so I'll just keep 4.0 installed. Mario
