LoL!!!!!!!....You wanted what!?..........hahahahahahah.....LOL!!!....Really!?...You want to Remove What again????......Hhahaha....<gasp>......and you thought, you where the only one, who ever thought of this!????......oh you're brilliant!!!!.....Really? Have you tried using that "Search" button located to the upper right of this screen?....How about the "FAQ" button? You want to remove vocals?......do you have something personal against the singer!? Why don't you want to remove the guitar!? Van Halen removed the originals vocals, and some people are still yearning to get them back......and now you want to remove vocals?.....LOL....Using Screenblast Acid!???? Have you ever even opened up an audio file before? Zoom in a little.....what do you see? A bunch of skwiggly sinewaves, which is comprised of many different instruments mixed together? And now you want to try and pull the vocal part out of that? How about you mix me up some chocolate batter and bake me a cake...then when you get done with all that....could you pull me an egg out of that cake? That's what you're asking!!!! So go pull that egg out of that cake for me, and when you've successfully done that, come back and I'll tell you how to remove the vocals out of a song. |

Sharpen the CD to a fine blade and start cutting. Or read the FAQ. Or do a site search. |

Acid Pro can remove vocals : try to apply a "Phase Inverter" on your track and maybe, if you're lucky (it depends on the track and how it is mixed), it will remove the vocals. I suggest you buy Acid Pro 4 because this prog wil also allow you to remove the Beat ! Yep man. You just have to use the included Sony Compressor and play with it till the beat is (almost) erased (depends on track). With Acid pro, you'll be also able to remove the Bass !!! Just use an equaliser and filter your track from 80 to 120hz (depends on your track, you're the musician, just hear and see for yourself). With Acid 4 you'll maybe also be able to Add things (brand new in ver. 4.0) ! Like your own voice ! Just record an Audio File with your mike and sing whatever you like on the beat that's player on Acid ! I'm not trying to sell you the program, just telling you that it's the most flexible one ever. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate. Sony MediaSoftware Acid Forum will always be there for beginners, we've all been there (c'mon guys don't frighten him he's one of those guys who'll make Acid more popullar, then more important, then more ressources, then more features, then we will rule the world muah... Muah... MUAHAHAHAHA... Ok. My Bad). |

Fadengo simplifies things a lot in his response. The truth is vastly more complex. Most any sound editing software can remove *SOME* vocals, if those vocals are recorded dead center mono and the instrumentals are stereo. Even still it won't work very well and a lot of the instrumentals may be lost too. Any effects added to the vocals, or background vocals that are panned left or right won't be removed. Most of the time the result sounds very bad. Using enough compression to remove the beat will homogenize the music so badly that there may not be anything recognizable left at all. In fact, the beat will still be there, it will just be buried in the other sounds. Using an equalizer to remove the bass can work somewhat. However, most bass instruments have overtones in higher frequency ranges that would still be heard, and most likely sound very strange without the lower frequencies. In general, most musical elements consist of a wide range of frequencies that all overlap and are impossible to separate from each other. I believe Acid 2 allowed you to record your voice (or anything else). Acid 1 might have been able to do this too, but i've never seen it so i don't know. This is certainly not a new feature in Acid 4. |

I know Chienworks I know... By simplifying, I wanted to say "Look, if you search in that direction, you'll find your answer". Considering the question and the guy's skills, I couldn't go too deep as you did (very well done by the way). For 4.0's new feature, ok for this one I'm sorry... Too much cafeine. |

Setro, you would not believe how many times this question was asked on the Sound Forge forums, which Rednroll frequents. I can't really blame him for responding the way he did. To put it briefly, you cannot separate vocals from a stereo mixdown, at least not perfectly. Since many instruments share frequencies with that of the human voice (like guitar), you're bound to remove those frequencies those instruments share when you "remove the vocals." You may end up with mud after all is said and done. The only perfect way of doing it is to obtain the original project before it was mixed down into stereo. "The only perfect way of doing it is to obtain the original project before it was mixed down into stereo." Thank you, Iacobus. Or how I tried to describe, give me the seperate incredients, before you mix them up and bake them into a cake. And please excuse my behavior for being rude. The reason I responded that way is because, I find it extremely rude when someone can't at least give a shot at using the "Search" feature when coming to a forum for the first time. This question has been asked a few hundred times, in these forums and finding an answer would have been quicker than typing the question. |
