Render All Busses was removed from 5.0b.

why???

I would like to know why as well. You get used to something and then "poof" it is taken away. What gives?

Hello:

Will this functionality be returning in next rev c ???

I really hope so. Since there are no plans to ever include rewire, the least Vegas could provide is some means to finish a song.

For Instance:

Track, edit, mix and arrange audio in Vegas. Then one could easily export the
busses and add other instruments (VSTi's, etc.) using any other sequencer.

(And yeah, I know we could just render a bus-at-time out the master buss.
But work-flow is just much easier by hitting one render to do them all).

Please explain "what is the rational for removing this function"? If version "a" could do it, why not version "b" ???

Thanks

Yes, please don't just give us half an answer by saying it was removed.
We know that. Please explaing why it was removed.

Everytime I've moved a project between programs or studios I've used
this function.

As it is, I'm working on a few smaller projects at the moment and hadn't noticed
the function was missing, but its just one of those functions you think will always be there.
Why take it out? Especially in an update?

If not for this post, I see myself there, client sitting next to me and I say, "Sure we can render
these buses out all at once and transfer them to your Pro Tools studio......Doh!" Then
I have to eat the time it takes to mute/solo and render each one individually.

Since I'm not having any problems with version 5.0a, I'll stick with that.

Dropped a known and used feature - POST RELEASE?!?!

Oh good lord, what are you people smoking down there on the farm?
VegUser wrote on 8/1/2004, 12:52 PM
Ya know, these are the LAME AND TIRED "corporate" responses I mentioned a while back.

There probably isn't a valid reason for pulling this feature (other than to help point you to add sony Acid to your aresenal?).

No answer from Sony? I'm surprised there hasn't been a storm of protest.
This move strikes me as particularly gratuitous, though it fits right in with what seems to be their plan to remain as incompatible and inconvenient as possible.
SonyEPM wrote on 8/3/2004, 1:03 PM
Sorry for the inconvenience, this slipped through in the .wav case. We will be bringing multi-bus render back in a future update. Workarounds fo 5.0b: solo a bus and render one by one to .wav, or, render all busses to aiff (aiff did not change).
doctorfish wrote on 8/3/2004, 3:36 PM
Thanks for the reply SonyEPM.
It's exactly what we wanted to hear. Although it is interesting that
(if I'm understanding your post correctly) this function is still
present when rendering to aiff.

Looking forward to 5.0c then.

That's a very reasonable response: people make mistakes.
And, actually, if I were using 5.0 instead of 4.0 and had persisted in looking, it wouldn't have been a problem anyway, as 99 times out 100 a "render all busses" means I'm heading to Mac/Pro Tools land and aiff is the preferred format anyway.

I have never noticed a "render all busses" switch. What would be reasons for doing this?
i have rendered individual tracks before when they contained gobs of edits.
thanks...

Hello to all:

Tried my own work-around last night with Vegas 5b....WORKS!

1) copied the V5a waveplug.dll file from the FileIO plugins folder, to another location.

2) Upgraded to Vegas 5b.

3) deleted wave rendering plugin file: Waveplug.dll

4) copied the V5a waveplug.dll file into V5b FileIO folder

5) reboot.

Now, "render all busses" option is there and works. You can now use this option for rendering in V5b (with all the 5b bug fixes and new acid clip sync features).

"Where there's a will, there's a way"!

Why on Earth if the fix is that easy, doesn't Sony just put out a hotpatch or bulletin........Or maybe your fix will potentially throw a monkey wrench into the works for many users?

idonno:

All I do know is that i tried it and was able to render 6/8 busses from a project. The 2 muted busses didn't render...like normal.

I played back the rendered tracks and they sounded fine. I then checked the acid clip sync thingy, and that seemed to work fine as well.

It may interefere with some other important functionality. Maybe the network rendering functions would be my guess. But I don't use this, so I could give a crap if i hosed that particular function up.

(And of course if this "hotfix" so much as causes the slightest clink to any of the sacred video functions, they're not even going to consider addressing it).

It still ain't "rewire" or MIDI, but at least i can once again export to something that has it.

Peace
