I need a good pair of headphones. 100 dollars or less. With lows, mids and highs. Should I go with AK or is there something better? Any suggestions people?

Here's a place to get some good help.

Sony has a set that are pretty well the standard.
Once you see a well reviewed set, make sure to go listen to them at a store.
I ended up getting a set of Fostex T20's (which are barely mentioned anyware) because they sounded better to me than Sennheisers. Fostex is also more aimed towards studios, so that might be worth taking into consideration. Also, my T20's are very comfortable as far as headphones go and the build quality seems very strong.

I'll try to find the Sony model. I think it was 950's or something like that.

It's the MDR-V6 or 7506. The replacement for the V6 (still available in some places) is the V600, which I guess are cr*p.

I have the 7506 and love them, but there are many fish in the headphone sea!

By the way, you're not planning to mix to headphones are you?

I am about to buy a third pair of the Yamaha rh-5ma headphones...they rock my world and are very reasonably priced. They are "monitor" headphones and therefore have a very nice and even flat response....perfect for monitoring, but I use them for everything. Have tried more expensive Koss and Senhiesers, but there is just somehting about these, that I always go back to....

Sony MDR-7506 hands down. They might run you up to about $140 depending on where you go, but they are well worth the price. It's one of those pieces of gear you will never regret buying, like an SM57, or a Les Paul Custom...

Rugged, great sounding, loud, clear, widely used in the industry. An emerging standard.

I have decent results mixing on them as well. I would never hand out a mix that I *only* checked on these headphones, but they do let you zero in on things that you can't hear on monitors alone. (But OTOH, if I had to mix *only* on headphones, these would be the ones!) I use a combination of monitors and headphones for most mixes. As long as you keep a clear point of reference, you are in no danger. Just don't crank them up too loud for extended periods -- they *will* damage your ears if you do!

Sony 7506's are great. I also like AKG K240 studio headphones. I recently listened to a pair of the Bose quiet comfort 2 headphones. These have got to be some of the best headphones I have tried on. Light-weight and comfortable. The noise cancellation feature on these are truly amazing. I demoed them at an audio clinic in L.A., which was located outside in a parking lot just off of the 405 freeway. I put these headphones on and turned the power on, and all the background traffic noise just disappeared. I could no longer hear the voices of the people talking around me. Then I listened to some music and the frequency response was also incredible. These aren't studio monitor headphones, but I think I'm going to pick up a pair to try them out in the studio. I would love to hear from anyone else who might have a pair and have used them in your studio. You won't get these for $100, but if you want to elliminate any outside noise, while trying to focus in on something in the audio, these noise canceling headphones will amaze you.
