In restoring LPs, occasionally I find that the "zero crossings" of the left and right channel of the captured sound file don't exactly match, but are offset slightly. For instance, in setting a region boundary I may be able to hit the wave on the left channel where it crosses zero, but not quite on the right. First, does this mean the two channels are slightly out of phase, and secondly, is there a way to shift one channel to match the other, and I guess more importantly do you even want to shift the channel? It doesn't sound that bad as it is, but then the human ear is pretty sensitive to phase differences. I'm guessing one of you folks has run into this before.

There's no reason the waveform has to cross zero at the same time.

If the phase of one channel is inverted and you R-Clicked on Stereo in the status bar > Mono > Mix, the wave form will disappear and there will be no sound.

180 degrees out of phase will show the positive and negative part of the waves opposite of each other, nothing to do with the crossings.
