I’m just curious but what would you want in a better sequencer? The ACID sequencer is OPT pluggable (YAMAHA Open Plug-in Technology) so you could replace it. Have you tried the GenieSys MIDI Editor with ACID? (quite old now but just a thought) It is conceivable that someone could write a MIDI editor to plug into ACID that has all the features you want/need and then we would all be happy.

I’m surprised people haven’t asked for support for things like MIDI FX Plugins (MFX) technology so that you could buy MIDI plugins and add these to ACID just like you can add them to Cakewalk SONAR, Pro Audio, Guitar Studio, etc. I don’t know how hard this would be to do, but any technology that allows 3rd parties to enhance your product has got to be a good investment. It’s too bad OPT didn’t catch on. It was a good choice at the time.

JR,
You may be on to something here. Do you much about OPT? Can you elaborate?

Not really, you can follow the link I provided and read up on OPT. That’s about as much as I know about it. You can download the GenieSys plug-ins from SilkSound.com. They work great. I use StolenTrack all the time to tease apart MIDI files into separate tracks. I could look into the OPT SDK but I’m not a graphics programmer so it would be a big learning curve for me to make the interface.

the midi dosent scroll with the project, but more importantly, sometimes acid does not see the midi input(not all the time)but enough to where you want to like for a better alternative.
so im switching back and forth between audio and midi in the record section to trick acid into seeing it.

syncing acid with another program is not the solution because it drifts.it will sync but if your looping a 8 measure section everytime it restarts it gets further and further out of sync.

i love the way acid works for audio.but for vstis it causes too many crashes.

the way i work right now is
computer 1.
acid and reason
i try to use acid for just loops and one shots.
reason as my main bread and butter for sounds.
sonic refill(turns the nn-xt into a triton,motif,jv 2080 libary of sounds)
flatpack(good drums) and my 80+ disc of acid cds

computer 2
steinberg v-stack
i keep all my vstis over here so this way it wont crash acid.
sampletank,xphrase,atmosphere,virtual guitarist,plex,emagic exsp-24

also sometimes when you edit in the piano roll editor acid crashes.
im not saying sequenceing in acid cant be done, but i try to avoid things that add extra stress in my life.
