exit out of any music program you might have open and go to the properties of your sound card. from there you should change it.

44.1 or 96 is the place to be

I don’t know what Creative card you have but the SBLive cards will only support 16/48 and the Audigy 2 will only work at either 16/48 or 24/96. (I’m not sure about the original Audigy) The sample rate for all ACID project defaults to 16/44 (same as CD). That’s why you’re getting the sample rate error when you switch to ASIO. Your project is set to 16 bit 44KHz by default and the Creative cards want 16 bit 48KHz.

Here’s what you need to do: Go into File > Properties... > Audio and change the Sample rate (Hz): to 48,000. (the Bit depth should already be at 16) Also be sure to check the Start all new projects with these settings check box and press OK. Now all new projects should start with a 48K sample rate at 16 bit. You can now go into Options > Preferences... > Audio and select the Creative ASIO drivers without getting an error. Click Apply and then the Advanced button should be ungreyed. Press Advanced... then Configure... and select the ASIO Buffer Latency that you want. I keep mine at 5ms.
