Hi, I was wondering if I might be able to ask you good people for a little more help as I'm still getting to grips with Acid. The question goes a little something like this. If I have a bar made of four divisions: I I I I I And I have a beatmapped sample painted across two continuos bars of the first two divisions: I--I--I I I Is there a technique to stetch the samaple across all four divisions of the bar, a little like stretching an elastic band. The idea would be to time stretch the piece to keep the tempo in time. Obviously you can normally paint across the remaining two division to either repeat or reveal more of the loop, but what I want to do is time strectch it, like an elestic band to cover all four divisons, if that makes sense. I have looked in help but can find it there, although it may be the terms I am using are wrong. Any help or if you could point me in the right direction it would be much appriciated. Cheers, Monki. |

I'm not understanding you. Can you tell me more? Or maybe somebody else can figure this out. It does take a while to get the termanology down. Just keep at it. |

if i understand correctly, what you want to try is going to the properties window of the beatmapped track, and check the "Preserve pitch when stretching" mark in the General tab. this will enable you to timestretch the beatmapped sound over as many bars as you want. of course, the more you stretch, the more warbled the sound will become, just like a regular loop. |

OK, here's putting it another way. Say I have a sample of some one saying "hello" which is painted across half a bar. I want to time stretch it so that the "hello" stretches across the whole bar, rather than half a bar, but retains the origional pitch, It maybe that it's not possible or I need another tool to do this. I hope this makes sense. Let me know and any advice is very greatfully recieved. Monki. |

If it's a loop, go to the stretch tab in track properties. Change the numer of beats. |

You can stretch the "Hello" for as far as you want, but it will drop off of a pretty steep quality cliff. Check the original properties of the loop. If its native tempo is slower than the project tempo, changing it from "loop" to "oneshot" will naturally "slow it down" without any loss in quality. From there, you could stretch it further if needed. |

Thanks for you advice. What I'm trying to find out it "How to stretch it", everyone has said it can be done, but not how to do it. When I paint it on, it is as it is set in the beat mapper. Is it possible in the track view, to drag the loop across from half a bar to a whole bar and if so, how? Is there a key I should hold down etc. If I change stuff in the beatmapped view it changed everything else in the track. If any one has time could they advise how to do this? Thanks again. Iain. |

Why are you beatmapping it? What about setting the acid properties in Sound Forge and then editing the properties in acid? Have you tried that? |
