Hello all,

Like I said in the title I haven't really played around with soft synths that much. I was in Guitar Center buying cables and some of the guys showed me some really cool programs, at least I think so anyway. Korg and Native Instrument have software programs that emulate their classic synths, It sounded great. I know that they have existed it is just that I already have 3 keyboards that keep me busy so I haven't really investigated it.

I have heard and seen posts on the forum about people trying to sync Native Instruments with Acid. So I am guessing that these types of programs are all compatable with Acid? I have downloaded some of the free vst stuff on the net and have had no problems pluging it into acid. Although some are recognized and some aren't. I think when you download free stuff you really can't complain if some of it is not up to par. I haven't tried recording these plugins yet but I have had no problems so far.

If I were to buy and install these programs as stand alone programs ( meaning I would install their program seperate from acid ) would I be wrong in thinking all I would have to do is add a .dll file ( copy and paste ) to the vst folder to get them to work with acid? Most of the vst downloads only include that type of file so I am thinking that I would only need that file in the vst folder for it to work with Acid. That is if the synth programs includes a .dll file.

Oh by the way, How can I delete the vocals out of prerecorded music? Ha just kidding :-)

Thanks to anyone who might have some thought on this and wouldn't mind sharing it. On the VST that is.

Kind regards,

Duke

I would not assume that all standalone instruments will play in ACID but the ones you mentioned do. Actually, standalone mode is for playing live and I would bet that most standalone instruments come with a VSTi or DXi (or both) plugin so there is no dll to drag and drop. You want to be sure to buy ones that are VSTi compatible (ACID doesn’t support DXi).

I would go to the Native Instruments web site and download the demos of their classic instruments and you’ll see what I mean. The Pro-53, (Prophet 5) B4 Organ (Hammond B3), and FM7 (Yamaha DX7) all have downloadable demos that will work standalone, VSTi and DXi. If you’re into these classic synths like I am (I still have my Hammond B3 and Minimoog) you might want to also check out Arturia Minimoog V and Moog Modular V Soft Synth. They also have demos and they sound awesome.

Shoot the singer, of course. (only kidding) ;-)

Sounds great! I heard the prophet 5 and it was awesome sounding. It was just so easy to load the free stuff that it made me wonder about the program that actually cost $400 or $500 would be as easy to deal with . If I spend the money will I have any problems? I doesn't sound like that is the case and you get so many more possibilities without hardware taking up valuable space. You know I just don't want to shell out that kind of money and not have something work right.

Thanks for the reply
