If the video is your DVD start, you can't. A workaround would be to create a small short black video, set that as you DVD start and set it's end action to link to the video while also setting the subtitle stream. That is, in the properties window set Media Properties | End Action | Set subtitle stream to your desired default subtitle track.

If the video is initiated from a menu,...
1. Select the button in the workspace
2. In the properties window, set Button Properties | Action | Set subtitle stream to your desired default subtitle track

What about the Acitvate Track button in the timeline's subtitle track? Does that set the track on by default in the final disc, or it only for preview purposes? I haven't tried actually preparing a disc like this, but it appears to accomplish the desired effect in preview.

Although, whenever I do this, the preview itself doesn't want to kick in until I switch to another application and then switch back to DVDA...

The activate track is not used as a default for the final disc. The activate track is only used as the default track when you preview current (F9) or play from the timeline window. It is not used when you preview disc (Ctrl-F9).

DVDA2 has really come a long way as an Authoring package, however I feel that we need the ability to switch on a particular track(subtitle and Audio) as the default tracks, without user selection.

This part is a piece of cake in an ancient program like Maestro....thanks

What's wrong with the solutions that SonySDB gave? Neither one requires any extra action on the user's part.

It does work, however it is an extra step that is not really required.

I suppose i can use it as an intro screen....thanks
