Ok so Im considering the following additions to my acid pro 2.0 software: Echo Gina 24 sound card Guitar Port from Line 6 or Johnsons J-Station. I basically like to record songs I write only. I dont play live anymore or need to record multiple instruments at once. Does this setup seem like a good fit for what Im wanting to do? Is latency still going to be an issue with the echo card? I assume it will handle simutanious playback and record? Should I keep my Soundcrapper Audigy card in my pc or will I need it at all anymore? |

the gina24 drivers work flawlessly with acid 4.0, latency is very good also. it handles full duplex recordoing no problem.. i have an old sblive in my machine solely for the midi interface (and occaisional joystick use). depending if you need midi or not you won't need the extra card... (or you could use a usb midi interface or whatever) don't know much about the particular amp sims you suggested.. |

Might the Gina be overkill (though great interface that it is)? The Gina has multiple outputs and 1/4" and S/PDIF ins. The MiaMIDI, also from Echo, also has 1/4" I/O and S/PDIF I/O but also has MIDI I/O (which may be useful with the J-Station). However, the MiaMIDI's I/O's wouldn't be as accessible as the Gina's. In any case, you couldn't go wrong with either. Your setup would also be similar to mine, as I use a DigiTech GNX2 guitar effects processor with an Echo MiaMIDI. I love it. My two cents are: Look at the midimia. I have one and love it. I think I got it for $199 (us) with free shipping. I think the guitar port is for people who don't have a good interface, so I'd say go with something else (ie. Johnston, POD, or the berringer unit). There are also software solutions. Anyway, another opinion. |
