Video capture won't load!

Toay I loaded Vegas 5 and tried to go to capture some video. However I got a message saying that "Video Capture wasn't shut down properly the last time and would I like to load the previous project?"

Whichever option I select video capture starts to load, and then crashes out. I can't figure out what has happened since video capture was shut down without any problems the last time I used it!

I used to get this message when starting Capture. I would get this message sometimes even when my last session went great. Kinda weird.

I fixed it in VEGAS by changing from 'Video for Windows Standard' to 'OHCI Compliant IEEE1394/DV' under Video Device

What are you using to capture on? In your VEGAS settings, are you set to the correct associations?
Also check your Audio Device settings and drivers. Updating my Echo Mia soundcard drivers got rid of so many sluggish, audio cracklin, and crashing for me also.

I'll try that thanks. The correct associations should be there. I haven't changed anything in any settings since the last time I captured anything. I'll double check everything again though.

I just tried what you suggested. I still can't get video capture to load. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas, but it still won't load!

Have you just recently updated the drivers, so the 6.08 is a solid driver for WinXP??

What tha?

I just got into work and tried to capture using VEGAS 5b and now I'm getting the same thing. VIDCAP is giving me this exact error message and closing. I'm trying to capture on a different box than usual. I've got my box at home (the Mia box) running/capturing smoothly. I also have 2 other boxes we capture/edit on running smoothly. Now when I am trying to capture on a 4th box that also houses VEGAS, I am getting the same error and shutdown as originally described in this post. After/If I figure out what the deal is with this box I will post my findings. It's just such an annoyance when you have to change your workflow because of a problem. VEGAS, I still Love you like no other.

The MIA 6.08 driver still causes some type of problem on my one box. I have had 2 crash/restarts using it. I may need to roll back the driver. It works awesome other than that. No crackles, dropouts, or latency.

GOLLI, if you are not having problems with your current MIA driver - DO NOT GO TO v6.08. If you do... keep your old driver handy cause you may end up rolling back.
