not all linked files play--why?

Hi all,

Ive got DVDA1.c. It's been working well for months--no coasters, all types of DVD+R media work fine. I'm working on a project that has three submenus. I ge the t project to a rough cut and burn it onto a DVD+RW--all buttons and all submenus work fine on both the PC and an Ebox. So I go and add a few more files and clean up some text. This time it burns and I get a new message to the effect that there were no errors--not the usual burned successfully message. I try the DVD. Now about half of the linked files don't come up and the screen freezes. I can go back to main menu just fine.

So it looks like maybe the burn went bad. I try it again and get the same results. So I start a new project and add a page and two files. Burn it to the same DVD+RW. I get the "burned successfully" message It plays fine.

Ok, so I start a new project and reassemble all the same pieces of the puzzle, figuring the DVDA file is somehow corrupted. I preview--works fine. I burn (4.5 rendering/burning hours) it. Same problem only worse. Now ore of the linked files dont work--on two of the submenus.

My PC is not connected to the web. I haven't added any new software. I'm scratching my head...

Any ideas?

thanks in advance,

David Lee

The only thing I can think of is that there is a dirty or bad location on the disc that is only encountered on larger projects. Can you try a different DVD+RW?

Ha!

You may have hit the nail on the head. I tried another (used before) DVD+RW and got the same problem. So I burned the project to a regular DVD+R and it works! Maybe DVD+RWs go bad or become unstable after a few burns. Since I've started using DVD+RWs to stop making a pile of test burns, this problem has only just come up. A great piece of software. Hail Sony/SF!

Thank you very much. I think my problem is solved.
