(this is the dialog that pops up right after you press the record button). Some of the options should say Mono, Left Channel or Mono, Right Channel. You should be using one of these to record mono instruments like a guitar. If you don’t have an option to select a mono recording device then you need to bring the recording into another tool like Sound Forge to make it stereo using the channel converter. ~jr
