Ok Im sure the solution is easy for this but Im new to it, so bare with me. Ive got a drum track recorded just fine. sounds great, no problem. I go back and record "live" guitar as the drum track plays. Fine. Works great.

Problem: When I play back drum track 1 and guitar track 1, they are not in sync with each other. Do I have to stretch my newly recorded tracks to the proper tempo every time I record a new track? This seems strange since the tempo is already set the same on both tracks(120.000). I read a little about the streching the tempo settings, but this seems kind of silly. Is there a better way to have my tracks play and record in time with each other correctly, so Im not spending half of my time trying to line them up with each other? Any suggestions folks?

Set the guitar track as a "one shot" or edit your guitar track to fit the tempo. "One shot" is easier unless you chenge tempos.

"One shot" didnt work.
I think the problem is because im using 2 sound cards. My guitar is mic`ed through a SB Live card which is Plugged "line in" into a SB audigy card. I have to do this because it will not play and record properly from the same sound card. It seems like however, because of this I am getting a delay in the play back even though I am playing in time with the already recorded drum track.
I wonder if theres a way to sync the sound cards maybe? My other option might be to get a SB Audigy Platnum card, if it is capable of playing and recording at the same time. Or maybe even a third sound card: One to play guitar"live" through, one to play back already recorded tracks, and then another to record the "live" guitar.
thoughts anyone?

This is actually pretty intersting idea.. to buy a new sound card for each track you have recorded...

Somehow... when I read your first post... I was afraid you were going to answer creative when you discussed your sound card.

You might be better off getting a soundcard or audio interface that has multiple inputs as opposed to getting multiple soundcards. Echo and M-Audio are two examples of companies that make such interfaces.

To add, Creative's offerings are OK and they're getting better, but they still have a ways to go in terms of usability (simplicity of use; you want a card that does one thing and does it well) and driver stability when it comes to DAW situations.

You mean Echo's MiaMIDI? It goes for about $170 if you look in the right spots, like here at Florida Music Co.. Prosoundcards.com has it for about $10 more but you get free shipping (so it basically comes out the same).

The Audiophile 2496 can also be had for about $99.

Both are great cards (and I have both as well—long story). Whatever you decide to get will depend on what you're looking for. For example, the Audiophile has S/PDIF I/O, MIDI I/O and RCA analog I/O. The MiaMIDI also has S/PDIF I/O and MIDI I/O but also has 1/4" TRS (balanced) I/O.

Be also sure to check out the manuals for the soundcards, available for download free off of their respective sites so you can get a good idea on how each card functions.
