Is anyone still using W98 for Audio? I used to have a PII 350mhz (128mb RAM!) just for Audio (no Office/Internet) on W98se with Acid 2, Soundforge 4.5 etc & it was rock solid!! Since moving up to XP on P4 2.4 and using ACid 4 etc i seem to have crashes etc - Do you think im best going back to what i know? and Back to W98se? Can you add W98 to a modern 2.4 pc with 1GB RAM etc (as they all come with XP) ? Im just wondering whether Acid 4.0f would be more stable on a W98 machine? or even use Acid 3.0 on XP ? |

You're better off with XP and trying to whittle down what exactly is causing your problem; Microsoft has ended support for Windows 98, so any problems you have with that OS will not be supported here. It's your call as to which version you want to use. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page Guitars 4 Kids |

WinXP should be more stable than Win98, that's what everybody says. I'm using Acid Pro 4 on a brand new XP computer with no problems. I'm also using it on a second "test" machine running Win98 and it runs fine. However, be aware that future versions of Acid are unlikely to run on Win98; it's already the case for Sound Forge 7. |

I'm with Iacobus, let's solve the XP crash. What kind crashes are you having? And of course info: exact steps, exact message, crash details if possible, any other software installed. Suzan |

yea i used acid 4 on win98 and i had more crashes on that, compared to win XP pro, which is what i'm running now. it must be something else, some other software or driver, causing the trouble. i'd stick with XP and find the problem, like everyones said. |
