Has anyone had any joy trying to export video to a TV 'live' out of Acid Pro? I bought a DV camera last year & paid an extra coupla hundred quids to get one with DVin - the Acid blurb tells me I should be able to export the digital video via Firewire to the DV camera, which will then convert the video & output it to my TV screen in real time. I've tried it, but although Acid is sensing the camera is connected, no picture is appearing on the DV camera screen or the TV screen - is this likely to be a fault of the camera or Acid Pro (or me being a dumbass again....)? Did you ensure that the preferred external monitor is set on the Video tab under Options>Preferences on ACID's menu bar? Also, do you have a video track loaded in ACID? (Use ALT+4 to toggle the video window to see video playback in ACID itself.) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page Guitars 4 Kids |

I do have a Quicktime video file running in Acid which I can see in the video window - I then click on the 'external monitor' tab in the video window and the picture goes blank in Acid, and tells me it's being fed through to the external monitor device. Basically, it would just be useful to be able to see the video at all times during playback & recording (i.e. external monitor), but the picture doesn't appear on my TV. I suppose the other option might be dual monitor support - but I guess this would mean investing in a new graphics card with 2 outputs? - anyone know anything about this? Would Acid allow me to split the windows so video was on one monitor, with the audio (everything else) on another? Thanks LD |

As far as I know, sure, you shouldn't have a problem, since the video window is able to be detached and dragged to a preferable location, such as on another monitor screen. You will have to buy a video card with two monitor outputs. Still, it's odd you can't view video on an external monitor. What make and model DV camera is it? Some camcorders need to have a menu option changed to enable DV in/out functions. Check your camcorder's manual. You may have to change a menu setting to turn this feature on. |

Had a look at this - there is a setting on the DV camera - turned it on - all looked promising - went into Acid preferences & it said it recognised the hot pluggable device - then clicked on external monitor button in video window.... and it said 'no external monitor device is available. Please connect appropriate hardware'!!!! Just like the England football team - leads you to the brink of victory only to snatch defeat from the very gaping mouth of audio-visual glory....or something like that. Thoroughly peeved now, as we say in Nottingham. |

Hmmm. I looked at the manual for the camera but couldn't find any option of being able to have the camera monitor input, except maybe on p. 39. I see (on p. 51 of the manual) the ability to transfer still images to a PC, either by a special cable or a DV cable. (Note also the special notes on p. 51; they mention to use a certain DV cable.) Sounds from the England commnet that you are working in PAL. There is a problem with PAL external monitor previews in ACID, I have never been able to get mine to work with the same symptoms. Paul |
