Short answer...no. You get 5 points for finding a new way of asking though. Mario |

I think we should come up with a cunning new way of answering this question. Put people on some sort of never-ending quest as the punishment for asking (and not looking at the FAQ or doing a search)... |

Well... we could just point them to FAQ 619 Why our software can't separate vocals from a song for remixing.. I agree they could have done the search themselves but some people seem to be search challenged. ~jr |

Say, is there any way to make the music in the track louder so that it will hide the vocals completely??? <Heh> Nah, seriously...I tried the Analog X Vocal Remover. It worked ok for some tracks...a real dog on others (removed *too* much from the center). But, hey, no complaints at their price. :) For more serious work, I use CopyScat. (I think it's worth about $50 US.) It used to come with the "MegaPak" version of Band-in-a-Box. I beileve they have dropped this app from the bundle included with their latest BB release; therefore, it may be a bit harder to find. The author is James Chandler, Jr.; the distributor is (or, rather *was* [?]) PG Music, Inc., the makers of BB. Otherwise, depending on the tune, I simply look for portions of the tune not containing any vocals (intro/outro/breakbeats, etc.), then replace the original parts (containing the vocals) with these similar parts. Voilà! Instrumental track. One minor difference, however: I don't do this in Acid Pro; I do it in SAWStudioLite...much more efficient for me. (Sound Forge can be used as well.) Hope this helps, Mike E. Dee |

Now you've gone and encouraged people to do this. They'll just ask more questions. |

Aaarrrggghhh...you're right, DK! Maybe we can get the Webmaster to auto-forward such requests right to the FAQ 619 page. On second thought...NO...he might be the same developer working on ACID Pro 5!! ;) The Dee |

Give the guy a break. He said he was a video guy. This forum is for discussions (which includes asking questions). Don't make new people to the forum feel silly for asking something. If you don't feel like answering, don't read the post. |

Acidized, please stay around the forum for a few months and watch all the "how do I strip vocals" topics come up. Also marvel at how few people search for an answer first or read the FAQs. After that we can then point you back to your reply here and we'll all have a good laugh together. |

You add it as a Track FX to the track you want to remove vocals from. It will only work if the vocals are dead center and everything else is panned left and right because it uses phase cancellation to remove the vocals. Therefore, everything that is dead center is removed. ~jr |

Once you download it you must install it (just double-click on it and follow the instructions). Once it's installed it will show up in any application that uses DirectX filters (of which ACID is one). If you don’t see it listed under the Third Party folder then perhaps it didn’t install properly. ~jr |
