Subject:MP3 Plug-in Posted by: Phenam Date:6/19/2004 3:37:02 PM Does anyone know where I can download the MP3 plug-in? I've registered it for my Sound Forge 5.0 but recently started new on my hard drive. I can't seem to find how to get it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Create a new file or open an existing .wav file and save it as MP3. A dialog box will pop up asking you to register the MP3 plugin. If your computer is online it only takes a single click and activation is automatic.

After I upgraded to 5.0f the MP3 support disappeared from the list of file formats. I haven’t had the time to call Sony support so I just reinstalled the version from my original CD and MP3 support came back. I didn’t have this problem with ACID Pro 4.0e or Vegas 5a+DVD. Just Sound Forge 5. I think it has something to do with the Sony/SoFo renaming of all the plugins. It’s interesting that when I click on Custom, the logo for the MP3 plugin for Sound Forge has a Sonic Foundry logo while the MP3 plugin in ACID Pro has the Sony logo. I am not using the Sony version of ACID Pro. I’m still at 4.0e which was the last Sonic Foundry version. I was holding off upgrading to the Sony version because the name change has caused nothing but problems and ACID is working fine for me. ~jr

This is a known problem and they have a patch for SF5 that they will email to you if you call them. It worked great for me. Now I have the latest Sound Forge 5.0f build with MP3 support working fine. ~jr
