i cant tell you how many times i wanted to use ACID as a plugin on my PROTOOL rig.... my work flow would be off the hook, if i could run acid and PT together.... PT is running on XP....

i know this will never happen.

Doesn't PT support Rewire?

David.

Yes it does, but ACID would need to be a slave, not host. Currently, ACID is only a host Rewire application. This little issue is pushing people to Ableton Live.

I'm holding out for Acid 5
I think we'll see some cool stuff with Acid 5

implementing and syncing with rewire is not the best way to integrate. with all the PT systems out there, [and every project i have done for the last few years is PT] using the capbilities of acid within PROTOOLS is the way to go.

i have to take a stereo mix and work with that in acid, then take the acid 2 mix and import it back into PT... if the pro-world was using vegas that would be great. NO ONE in the pro world, any major studio or post place is using VEGAS....

acid should be a standalone and a PLUGIN!!!!
LIVE doesnt do what ACID does...........

if rewire slave was implemented in acid like rebirth or reason you'd probably be able to assign each track or bus groups of tracks (up to the limit of rewire channels) to a seperate channel on the protools mixer.

rewire2 is pretty much seemless intergration IMHO.

the only difference noticable i see between rewire and vsti is you have to alt/tab from app to app.

that not bad considering most large rewire slaves wouldn't really fit in a small vsti window anyways.

if acid was a rewire slave you could use protools, nuendo, cubase, sonar, or logic 5 to mix and record. you'd have more choices. not everyone is a digidesign snob. (i'm not saying anyone here is.)

then again everyone has been asking for full rewire since at least acid pro 3 so i'm sure the development team knows wassup.

there must have been a decision made to steer acid in more of the direction of general DAW than a specialized tool like recycle.

it seems they spent time adding features (vsti/ asio/ opt/ automation/ surround) to sway users away from other apps instead of finding ways to complement other apps.

don't get me wrong, it actually worked on me.

i do most of my projects in acid start to finish, but the only new feature i'd like to see in acid 5 are ones that i enjoy in other apps.

if i could i would do everything in acid, vegas and forge....but in the REAL world, all sessions in all major studios and post places are using PT...for good or bad it is everywhere.

yet no software allows me to paint with sound like acid, period. acid rules in creative flow. all i want is to have it as a plugin, so when the client calls 3 months after the project ends to do multi language versions, it would be great to have the whole acid file in recall...........
