Subject:Acid 4.0 record ability

I have a friend who wants to record speeches into Acid 4.0 and then burn them to CD. I know this is a relatively boring use of Acid. I'm curious, can Acid record a 60 minute audio track? My friend' s speeches are each 60 minutes.

Thanks!

To add to what Chienworks said, you can record as long as you want, given you have the hard drive space (which will all depend on bit-depth and sample rate used).

The above is not entirely correct. Yes, ACID is capable of recording forever, but different formats have different maximum file sizes, I think .wav is about 2Gb. This shouldn't be a problem, and you'd be recording for about 3.5 hours in stereo (16bit 44.1KHz) before using up 2Gb. Also, a speech should be recorded in mono, which will take up half the disk space of a stereo file.

You've got me curious now. Great as it is, why bother using Acid just to record speeches ? There are much cheaper alternatives out there.

Probably because it's something tvalle already has?

In any case, I'd recommend Sound Forge just to fix up the audio should it need sweetening. (Sound Forge may be more suited generally for the purpose of recording a speech as well.)
