Subject:Tascam US-122

I just purchased the Tascam US-122 USB Audio/Midi interface.
I have been using Acid 4.0 Express as a newbie. Would the $69.99 upgrade to Acid 4.0 be worthwhile or should I be considering Acid Pro 4.0?
Does Acid 4.0 have midi import capabilities?

Thank you for your input.

Richard

Hi Richard,

If you want to use the 24-bit resolution the US-122 is capable of, you will have to go for ACID Pro, as it's the only version of ACID that can do that bit-depth.

You may want to take a look at the comparison chart for the ACID family of products. All the versions can do MIDI playback, but only ACID Pro can do MIDI recording (amongst other things), for example.

If I had a choice, I'd go for ACID Pro, if only because the features are there when you need it. (You never know when you will need them.)

I agree with the above, however, it may be worth going for the cheaper version of ACID 4 for now and waiting for ACID Pro 5, although we have no idea when it's going to be ready, it could apear at any time and can only be an improvement on ACID 4... and if Sony have acted on the feature requests post on this forum, we should see some great new stuff.

Hello Iacobus,

Thanks for the input.

I wonder what the upgrade price would be from Acid 4.0 to Acid Pro 4.0.
I think I will stay put for a month or so unless this Xpress Version restricts me too much with my Tascam.

My best,

Richard

Hello BFB,

Thank you for your input.

I will stay put for about a month and then make Pro 4.0 purchase. I have found it locally in Vancouver, Canada for $ 395 ( Canadian ).

Take care,

Richard
