im messing around with sonar 3.1 and i lke it.but what keeps me dedicated to acid is the workflow.

how do i do these acid techniques in sonar 3.1??????????

1.offset audio
when you split a loop in acid you can offset the audio by HOLDING THE ALT KEY while draging the audio in the wav file.

2.pitch changes within a track
when you split a loop in acid and you want to change the pitch on a certain area of the loop YOU HIGHLIGHT THE AREA AND HIT THE (+plus and -minus)KEYS
this would get me started. thank you in advance

IMHO, No it can’t. I downloaded the SONAR 3 demo and I downloaded ACID Pro 4 demo and I purchased ACID Pro 4. Nothing beats the ACID workflow for composing with loops.

I can't help much here, other than to add that some use both SONAR and ACID Pro together to augment each other. ACID is first and foremost a looping tool, so you're bound to have more control in that area.

I own both. Use both. Acid smokes Sonar when it comes to looping. Sonar smokes Acid when it comes to tracking & MIDI. They do compliment each other very nicely.

I use both SONAR 3.11 & ACID Pro 4f and for pure loop arranging and ease of use, ACID Pro is still the best. For audio multi-tracking, MIDI recording/editing/arranging, softsynths, mixing and limited looping (mainly drum loops), I'll use SONAR. If I am going to be working primarily with loops and a few audio tracks, then ACID Pro, is my tool of choice. I'll then take my ACID project and export the tracks as separate wave files and import them into SONAR for further development and/or mixing. I tend to like to mix in SONAR, because my UAD-1 plugins don't exhibit the native CPU munching that occurs in ACID Pro 4 or Vegas 5 and the Universal Busing Architecture in SONAR 3 is much more flexible, for mixing too, IMO. To answer your previous questions:

"how do i do these acid techniques in sonar 3.1??????????"

"1.offset audio

Click on a clip to highlight it, then while holding down the Shift/Alt keys together, place the cursor toward the middle of the clip. You will see it change to a rectangular "Slip Edit" icon. Press and move the left mouse button to move the contents of the clip to the left or right.

"2.pitch changes within a track
when you split a loop in acid and you want to change the pitch on a certain area of the loop YOU HIGHLIGHT THE AREA AND HIT THE (+plus and -minus)KEYS"

Simply, click on the groove clip to highlight, and while holding down the Alt key, use the + or - keys on the num pad.

You really don't even have to highlight the clip. Just hold down the Shift/Alt keys together, move the mouse cursor toward the middle of the clip. You will see it change to a rectangular "Slip Edit" icon. Click the left mouse button and move the mouse to the left and right. The contents of the clip shouid move along with the mouse. To visually align clips, place the "Now Time" at the beginning of the clip you want to move. Now hold down the Ctrl key and repeatedly press the left and right arrow keys to zoom in & out, respectively.
