Subject:Will Soundforge ever be Multitrack?

Do you think its likely the Soundforge will ever become Multitrack recorder, like protools and Wavelab etc?

I know Sony have Acid & Vegas, but you still have to use SF to edit and apply reverses "on the wave" etc and import back into Acid.

If SF was multitrack, surely you could edit within the track (on the multitrack) applying little reverses etc, this would be as powerful as protools then surely?

Also, i just got SF7 and everytime i press play on my spacebar, there is a slight freeze of 2 or so seconds before the file plays? how come???

I believe Vegas 5 allows for reverse on the fly.

I don't think that Sound Forge will ever become multi-track (or more than two-track rather) ... it is designed as a two-track sound editor and is very powerful at that particular task.

I would expect Sound Forge to expand into multitrack wave format support. Multitrack .Wav format has been speced out by Microsoft. I can see mastering for DVD Audio and Video Discs an important step and a perfect work flow for Sound Forge. So I don't think it will support unlimited tracks like Vegas, but I don't think 6 to 8 tracks for a multitrack wave file is too far out of the question for a Sound Forge workflow. There's also a new Fraunhauser surround compatible .MP3 format.

Whoops. I always forget about that since I don't do much surround ...

This has to be a driver issue with your sound card.
What card are you using and what drivers??

Try adjusting the buffer settings in Options->Preferences->Wave.
