but there are no midi i/o ports...how does it record midi?

I have a M-Box for my laptop you will need something like the Mark Of The Unicorn Fastlane USB is about $50 give or take.

how bad do you want protools? you can get a much better interface for the same amount of $$$ if you don't want to use protools. i've always thought protools to be overpriced considering the unnessary limitations put in protools LE, although digi has tried to loosen up a bit.

I use midi with the mbox. my radium 61 runs off of a usb cable. so whatever device you are using if you have a interface that goes from midi to usb, or usb straight into your computer. The mbox should read it as a input. I know, it kinda disappointed me for a second, because I had bought the mbox along with my midi keyboard at the same time., but your midi device will work.
