Subject:help with midi

ok so i made a midi track with fruityloops...i put it in acid pro and loop it set up the different channels for diff instruments etc...but they all end up being grand piano...then i go back into the soft synth properties and change it from piano to the repsective but instruments and it will play correctly but then it will go right back...can someone help me?

What kind of MIDI device are you using to make the sounds? If it’s a VSTi SoftSynth like the DLS, then make sure you have the latest ACID updates. (4.0f) Somewhere around 4.0b I think, they added the ability to assign voices to channels.

If you’re using the MIDI on your sound card (like a SoundBlaster) then you need to imbed the program change information in the MIDI file itself. I explain how to do this on the ACID tips page on my web site.

You basically have to use the List Editor. To get to the List Editor, either double click on the MIDI icon to the left of the Track Header or right click on it and select Properties... and then select the List Editor tab at the top of the dialog. Next right click the event before where you want to add the program change and select Insert. From the Insert dialog select Patch as the Event Type and type the patch number in the Patch field.
