I have the Main Concept Professional Mpeg1/2 encoder and it is installed. How can I enable it in Sound Forge 7 to help me use it for working on AC-3 audio, cause every time I load an MPG file I get directed to buying the MC encoder again. Thanks

the Main Concept Professional Mpeg1/2 encoder 1.4.2 is a seperate app from sony ... having it doesnt enable mpeg2 encoding in vegas/SF

neither SF or Vegas can import ac3 audio anyway .. so your question is a moot point ..

So why, when I try to import an MPG file into Sound Forge 7, a window comes up telling me that I need an encoder, and when I follow the steps to buy the Professional encoder, the Main Concept Professional encoder is suggested to buy for $99?

Because an MPEG encoder is a different animal to an AC3 one is why.
AC3 = Dolby Digital.
MPG = Motion Picture Experts Group.
The two types of Audio file are different formats.
SoundForge & Vegas Cannot import AC3/Dolby Digital Files.

It sounds as if you have the standalone version of the MC encoder. The Plugin version is different.

May be the software DVD Encore version 1.5 can import AC-3 Dolby Stereo
