Subject:Read-only midi file ???

Sometimes, when I want to save a midi file from the piano roll, a message tells that the file is read-only and it cannot be saved. It asks whether I want to save it to another file, I say "yes" and nothing happens... However, when I have a look at that file in Windows Explorer, I see no read-only attribute. What's wrong ? |

If you close the track properties, delete the track and then add the track back in, are the changes you made reflected in the MIDI file? You said sometimes this happens. Can you see anything that could be a common factor for those MIDI files that don't save correctly? (For example, were the MIDI files created in another app?) I have found a solution to that problem. During the composition process, each song is made of a number of midi files, at least one file per instrument. Each song has its own folder with everything in it (midi files, acid project, Battery kit, etc...). In the .acd file, all the paths to the midi files are ABSOLUTE; when I take a copy of a whole folder, and then open the copied .acd project, Acid does not load the midi files from the current folder (I mean, relative path from the copied version) but still from the source folder (absolute) ! For any reason, there is a mismatch, obviously, as the references to the midi files are stored in the .acd file. So, I have used the "Replace" option in the midi file properties for each track points to its midi track in the copied folder. It's a bit tricky because I've had to do it in 2 steps to get rid of the read-only messages : first, rename the folder "XYZ" to "XYZ NEW", used "Replace" option, save the .acd, rename the folder back to "XYZ" and replace all again. |
