I have a speech recording that needs to be sped up gradually and I can't let it go up in pitch when doing so. Any suggestions, hints or tricks on how to go about this? Thanks! |

I did this very easily in two steps, both of them Effects / Pitch / Bend First pass, start at +0 pitch and set the end point to whatever final speed you wish. +12 semitones is double speed, +24 is quadruple speed. Leave the "Preserve original duration" box unchecked. Second pass, again start at +0 and set the end point to negative whatever you used in the first pass (-6 instead of +6, for example). This time check the "Preserve original duration" box. The result is that the speed increases gradually and the pitch has been restored. Just be forewarned that extreme changes in speed will garble the sound noticeably. |

Wouldn't that be easier to just make one pass starting at - something in pitch and ending at 0 without the "Preserve original duration" checked ?? |

That would start out slower (which might be the point, but the original poster wasn't really clear on the matter and i assumed starting from normal speed and getting faster). Also, that would start out with the pitch lowered and rising. The desire was to have the pitch remain constant throughout and only have the speed change. |
