I haven't used Acid for a while. The last project I worked on I was able to use Midi without any problem. Now Midi is up the spout.

I am ready to record. When I hit a note on the midi keyboard I can see the sound register on the volume monitor of the record panel. But when I actually press record and play the monitor shows no sound and when I finish the recording no midi track is created.

I've also discovered that if I bring in an old midi track and try to preview it the position marker does not move and I get no sound. If I paint the midi track into a project and play - I get no sound.

Midi is effectively dead. What has gone wrong and how can I put it right?

Windows XP Pro SP1 Acid Version 4.0f. I also have Sound Forge 7.0 could that have anything to do with it?

Thanks,

Chris (Hunt)

Make sure Sound Forge isn't using your MIDI ports while using ACID Pro. Ensure that real time MIDI is enabled by using ALT+F7 on your keyboard.

If that doesn't work, try completely uninstalling ACID and then reinstall. Something might have gotten corrupted.

Did you check your Record device and MIDI thru options at the bottom of the record window/ I recently added a MIDISport 2x2 and have to select them for MIDI recording. Not sure why playback is not working. Check your sound card properties/audio properties and make sure you have the right device selected for MIDI.

Hopefully this will get you going again.

Thanks for the replies, I've rebooted a few times and suddenly it is working again. No idea why it stopped working. I checked the points you both mentioned and nothing seemed a miss. I'm going again which is good.

Perplexed,

Chris
