Subject:Burning a Mastered set of songs

After I have some songs mastered (if you want to call that), how do I get all the songs in row on one file in SF7. I need to set the seconds of spacing and maybe normalize the the whole set of songs and then burn "disk at once"
Basically, I don't know how to get all the songs on one complete file.
Thanks
Gary

You can't burn Disk-at-Once from Sound Forge.

If you want to put all the songs into one file you can copy each one and paste them one at a time to the end of a new blank file. Use Insert Silence before each song to insert gaps. This probably isn't necessary though. Whatever software you do use to do Disk-at-Once burning will probably let you do this from separate files and let you specify gap lengths.

You'll need software to "burn" a CD. Having usd two of the most popular applications, E-Z CD Creator and Nero, I'd have to say that Nero is much more flexible than CD Creator. It's an excellent product and you can even have some cuts on a CD seg while others have space between them. Once you leanr your way around Nero you'll be happy you bought it.

Nero, is a good option as mentioned. A better option would be CD Architect. The best option would be Vegas. Just depends on how much additionally you'll want to spend, and how many additional features you want that you could use elsewhere. CD architect will allow you to place songs with the exact space you want between them. Non destructively edit the song if needed. Overlap songs. Place and move cd track ID's wherever you like. Then burn a DAO CD. Vegas has all those features, but also gives you a multitrack recording/mixing/editing environment and video editing. Nero you can do most of these things, but is much slower and painful compared to Vegas and CD Architect. For example if you want two songs to overlap each other in Nero it is very difficult to do compared to CD Architect....doable, just not anywhere near the simplicity.

Thanks sooo much for the information.
I'm beating my head against the wall trying to use SF7 for something it was not designed for.
Thanks again,
Gary

Do we have a list of Burners offered by SONY that "they" suggest for our DAW's

No such list any longer. All the Sony apps work with burners that are MMC compliant drives. So if the burner says it is MMC compliant it shouldn't have any problem in any of the Sony apps. I haven't found any drives that aren't MMC compliant as of late, and any burner I've purchased has worked with Sony apps. What type of burner are you looking for? DVD?CDR? Multi-format? I have a Pioneer DVR-A06U, which is a multi-format rewriteable drive and has worked well for me.

Nero is a good CD burn app but it does have some pros and cons.
Pros- Reads Sound Forge markers and regions // Simulate burn // CD disc testing // Writes CD text
Cons- It's slow.........sooooooo ... sloooooooooow loading files // Impossible to audition multible songs and pauses (I think)

Unfortunatly CDA still cannot write CD text. And it should be included with SF.
I'm thinkin bout jumping ship and going to Wavelab.

Maybe it's me? I have Nero 6 and I find it as fast at burning CD's as any other program out there. I get fewer costers than I did with E-Z CD creator and as far as loading files I find it to be quick. I have a 2.8 Ghz machine with 1 G of DDR ram. Once you learn how to use Nero it's really great. You can add text to cda files, like MP3's (I do it all the time) and you can select the spacing between cuts. Some can have space between cuts and others can seg. I don't use Nero to mix cuts so not sure about that. The most important thing to remember about Nero is that you can not save meta information when preparing a file for burning. That caused all sorts of headaches for me using a number of burner apps. I use SF ^ to prepare all my audio and only use Nero to burn. I do use the nero "normalizing" function in a limited way. That insures that all cuts will be at the same level. The finished product is fabulous.

Yeah Bob, Nero does burn CDs quick and hardly ever a coaster. I use it all the time. My complaint is in the Edit/Indexs/Splits mode which takes time to build the waveform. But then again I'm dealing with multible song blocks of live performances.

If you know a way to audtion multible songs and the pause spaces in Nero, please let me in on it. Thanks

Now if SONY would just upgrade CDA to include CD text. writing.

I agree with rraud 100% on all his points. Nero is very slow, when it comes time to add splits and track ID's or any audio editing. If you want to throw up a playlist of tracks with a set time between them, and reorder them, then Nero is very effecient at this. It also has CD text, this is the only feature I need in Vegas and CD Architect for my CD creation needs. Nero, I use a lot for the archival of all my data and audio, and I also use it to create .MP3 DVD/CD ROMS.
