I've been dorking around with Acid for a number of years, and I'm considering a better card. I'm currently using an old Event Darla, which seems problematic for recording. Is there anything folks might recommend that's more current and has better features for recording in particular? Also - Am I the only person who things many loops provided by Sonic Foundry are weak, particularly the bass loops? They often sound distorted or biased out... is it just me or my computer, or do these loops suck? thanks Harry |

I use an echo midi mia card. It usually sells for about $200. Don't use creative if you plan on recording. Son'y loops sound fine to me. |

Loops sound fine to me too. (I'm using an Echo MiaMIDI too.) It just might be your soundcard, flune. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page Guitars 4 Kids |

well, now I've removed my Event (now echo, it appears) Darla, and I'm using my creative clone.. and it sounds the same. I buddy of mine who directs the Annenberg school for multimedia shiz tells me that sonic foundary loops are notorious for being marginal, but I want to hear from real users, not just a mac usin' high-finance buddy... |

What kind of speakers are you using? |

I would have to disagree. Many of Sony's (formerly Sonic Foundry's) loop libraries have garnered many great reviews, both from reviewers and users alike. (E.g., The Bill Laswell Collection.) And, hey, he uses a Mac, y'know? ;o) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page Guitars 4 Kids |

it isn't the speakers - I've used headphones and 2 different sets of speakers... as well as 2 mixers and a couple of different amp setups. It could be how I'm using the loops (copying them to hard disk rather than using the sample CDs) - but that seems unlikely... |
