Subject:Previewing results from adjustments in the Loop Tuner

Hello,
Anyone ever tried to adjust zero crossings in a long loop? Well, thats what I am trying to do but it's taking forever.

Every time I adjust the zero crossings using the Loop Tuner, I have to click "Play as Sample" button that automatically starts from the beginning of the loop and wait until it gets to the very end and loops it back to the beginning to hear if the loop is looping correctly.

Is there any way to only play continously around the end and start region of a loop and skip the rest?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

TIA,
superddman

In the lower left of the Loop Tuner you can choose "Play Pre-Loop", "Play Loop", or "Play Post-Loop". There's also a button to switch between the sustain and release loops. You can also lock in the loop length if you just want to shift it around rather than adjust individual endpoints.

Also, if you are playing a selection and have looped playback enabled, then adjust an endpoint (while playing), playback will jump to the end of the selection minus the pre-roll defined in Options->Prefs->Other->Cut preview configuration.

Another thing that got removed in 6.0, but will be returning in the next update for 7.0, is that you can hold down Ctrl while clicking the play button in the window transport and if Looped Playback is enabled, it will jump to the end of the selection minus the pre-roll.

"In the lower left of the Loop Tuner you can choose "Play Pre-Loop", "Play Loop", or "Play Post-Loop"
Doesn't only "Play Loop" button apply to what I want to do? I want to play the loop with the newly adjusted endpoints, not play the left out parts outside of end points.

" There's also a button to switch between the sustain and release loops."
Could you explain the difference between two types?

"You can also lock in the loop length if you just want to shift it around rather than adjust individual endpoints."
Cool, I will try that.

"Also, if you are playing a selection and have looped playback enabled, then adjust an endpoint (while playing), playback will jump to the end of the selection minus the pre-roll defined in Options->Prefs->Other->Cut preview configuration."
I have tried different numbers for cut preview pre-roll but nothing is affected when I play back the loop. Do you have to active this pre-roll option somehow? Every time I press "Play Sample" and use the "Zero Crossing Left" and "Zero Crossing Right" buttons, the play head starts from the very beginning.

"Play Loop" does indeed play only the loop.

In sampler lingo, the sustaining loop is the section that repeats if you sustain the sample (i.e. hold the key down), the release loop is what gets played when you release (i.e. the key). I'd assume from your question you don't really want to mess with sampler info, but are just trying to tweak loops for ACID?

The pre-roll feature only applies to playing back a selection in "Play Normal" mode with looping enabled, not to the Loop Tuner playback buttons.

Thanks for the reply.

"The pre-roll feature only applies to playing back a selection in "Play Normal" mode with looping enabled, not to the Loop Tuner playback buttons."
OK. But the "Play Normal" button doesn't see the loop's end and start positions and plays the whole loop normally. I only want to play the adjusted loop that has new start and end positions which I have changed in the "Loop Tuner".
From what I have figured out, only "Play Sample" button on the "Loop Tuner" sees the "loop start and end positions". If "Play Loop" button at the bottom of "Loop Tuner" is selected before pressing "Play Sample" and then "Play Sample" is pressed, it will play only inside of the newly adjusted loop.

But like I said, "Play Sample" plays from the "loop start position" marker all the way to the "loop end position marker" which takes a very long time due to the length of this loop. I only want to play from like 2 seconds before the "loop end position" marker to like 2 seconds after the "loop start position" marker".

Try this:

1) close the Loop Tuner for now
2) make sure looped playback is enabled (Q)
3) make a selection close to the loop you want
4) start playback
5) adjust an endpoint of the loop, note that playback jumps to the end minus preroll each time the selection changes, for fine tuning you may want to disable playback scrolling and get familiar with keyboard shortcuts like End/Home to toggle between endpoints, and Shift+Left/Right Arrow or Shift+Page Up/Down to adjust the selection
6) when you're satisfied with the selection, create the loop (L)

Thanks for that suggestion Sonic. I will try this out. :)
