MIDI track properties question -ACID Product Family

Subject:MIDI track properties question Posted by: jeffmelee Date:5/12/2004 10:26:42 AM On a MIDI track, in it's track properties, in the Piano Roll Editor tab, at the bottom where you can select the velocity and other continuous controllers, is there a way to use some kind of curve/line tool to draw in a perfect sweep, or do I have to free-hand draw the curve every time? I like that I can draw in my curves, but I don't have a perfectly steady hand and sometimes (like in Kontakt) you can hear how unsteady my hand is. Also, when I'm using VSTi's like Crystal, how can I record any knobs movements from the synth? Do I need to know the CC number for the knobs? If so, are there general numbers that translate to every synth (Filter freq., resonance, etc.)?
Subject:RE: MIDI track properties question Reply by: Iacobus Date:5/13/2004 11:14:45 AM I'm not quite sure since I'm not a MIDI guru, but I believe that if you use a MIDI controller of some sort with assignable controls, you should be able to automate parameters like velocity on the fly while recording. The same applies to a VSTi like Crystal. If it supports MIDI automation, you should be able to record changes in real time during recording with your MIDI controller. It uses them only as MIDI output devices. This means that you cannot record the MIDI input that a VSTi can produce. Peter
