buy a UAD-1 card...it's the perfect compliment to the waves plugs and works well with acid. plus a dedicated DSP card will keep you from buying a new computer every two years. |

".....plus a dedicated DSP card will keep you from buying a new computer every two years." I am still happily using my three year old PIII 1Ghz/512MB PC and since offloading much of my realtime effects to my UAD-1 DSP card, I have all the native processor muscle I need for my projects. I am going to hold off upgrading my DAW for another year or so (probably wait for the next generation 4Ghz chips to arrive), and instead spend $300.00 dollars and get another UAD-1 which should give me all the DSP effects power I need. Plus, once I do upgrade my DAW, my UAD-1 cards will be put to good use in my new rig for many more years to come. The excellent professional quality of these plugins won't be going out of style any time soon. Billy Buck |

www.digitalfishphones.com compression plugs are excellent, and they are freeware. they aren't very clean but have a lot of great organic character to them, and can give some surprising results... |

I had a thread last week about 3rd party effects, and the one downside to the UAD-1 (at least as I heard it) was the reverb. And that happens to be the main thing I need. Now I may have heard incorrectly, and even if I did hear correctly, there is bound to be a good UAD reverb down the road. But right now I need reverb. But don't get me wrong, I'm still really impressed with the UAD-1. |

Hi DKeenum Have you tried Waves IR1? Its a little CPU heavy with Acid but man does it sound good. Tony Mac |

Not yet. I got the demo, but hadn't had time to play with it. I will. |
