Subject:Creating CDs with Acid 4.0

Hi, (If I sound like a newbie here, it's because I am. Please keep that in mind. Many thanks!) I have recently purchased the 'Screenblast Acid 4.0 - Version 4.0a(Build 90). I am, as a hobby, just learning how to create and edit tracks so I can make my own CDs. I thoroughly enjoy the Acid 4.0 that I purchased as it amazes me what can be done with it. However, I seem to be having a problem creating CDs with it from my music projects. It begins similar to this: Everytime I click on the 'Create CD' button to record my music project, it eventually displays "CD Operation - A Writer Error Occurred. The Disc May Be Dirty Or Corrupted". Then I further read the Details which indicate the following: "'ATAPI MMC Compatible'-(0) 'atapi'-(1) -'TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R2312 1905'-(0) Module atapimmc.cpp Line 1462 A medium error occurred. A write error occurred. Make sure your media is approved for this drive. Status: 00020202 Command: 2a 00 00 00 1d f6 00 00 1a 00 Sense: 03 0c 00 Info: 00 00 00 00 Specific: 00 00 00 Extra: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 It can't possibly continually be a "dirty or corrupted" cd, as I am able to burn music on the same cds with my other cd burning programs(Window Media Player, Pyro Cakewalk). What I end up having to do on my Acid 4.0 music projcts is rendering them as a wav format, then opening them up in my Windows Media Player, or Pyro Cakewalk, in order to burn it onto my cds. Can anyone kindly resolve this dilemma for me? (by the way, I'm not actually sure what my 'RAM' numerical value is, but I just chose 'above 256' so I could send this question. How do I ascertain what my 'RAM' is on my computer? ) Thank You, Jeff jeff1847@frontiernet.net |

Have you tried turning down the burning speed to 2x or less? Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page Guitars 4 Kids |

Or you could "Render As" to a wav file and burn from that. That's how I do it. |

Much appreciation for the replies. I attempted to create the cds at 2x and also at 1x speed - still wouldn't work, resulting in the same error message. I guess I'll just have to render my projects in a wav format and then burn them onto cds using one of my other music programs(WMP or Pyro Cakewalk or Roxio). It's just too bad that with all that I'm able to do with Acid 4.0, I am not able to create cds with it. Kind of frustrating. Many thanks again for the posted replies, Jeff |

Can we have a little more info on the details of your system? And are there any effects in your project? I ask this because ACID not only has to burn your project (itself an already intensive task) but also must render any effects and mix your project down to stereo in real time. What I had done(experimenting as a first time Acid 4.0 user) was opened up about 5 separate lenghty songs/tracks so that I could mix them together one after another. I also opened up some different loops. I did place some reverb and other 'acid FX' effects on loops. Altogether, the entire length of the project was about 57 minutes long. I then saved the project(I didn't initially render it in any wav or other format) as was. Then I clicked on "create cd" and there's where I kept getting the aforementioned error messages. I'm guessing you're suppose to render the project in a wav or some other format first before trying to burn the project onto a cd. Because I did just that last night(saved it in a wav format), then opened it up again in my Screenblast Acid 4.0. I then changed my preference speed to 2X. I didn't add any other tracks, nor any editing. Then I hit 'create cd' and it seemed to work. This sort of brings me to another question - suppose I have one long 60 minute track(comprising of many songs in it) and I want to burn it - how do I create it on a cd with track markers so that I can fast forward to any song on my regular cd player? Many thanks again and much appreciation, Jeff |

Try setting the Loop Region over a song and use the "Burn loop region only" option under the Burn TAO Audio CD dialog; repeat for each song in the project. HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page Guitars 4 Kids |
