I had the SAME problem with my LiteOn 411S. Rest assured, it is a DVDA 1.0 issue. I can burn ALL formats successfully with Nero, DVD Lab, and MYDVD -- but for whatever reason, DVDA 1.0 gave me nothing but problems with DVD- discs.

I've read that the problem HAS been resolved in DVDA 2.0, but have yet to try it.

So, either upgrade to 2.0 - or burn with a different program.

I'm afraid that DVDA2 behaves the same as DVDA1 with my LiteOn 411S - if a DVD+R disc is inserted, it finds it, but if a DVD-R is in the tray, it becomes "invisible" to DVDA.

It's no major hassle - the software which came with the burner - Record Now DX - works fine with both formats, but I'd be interested to hear why this is.

"...it won't recognize any -R or -RW discs either."

BabyBoy0 - is the drive giving an error when you go to burn, or is the drive just not showing up?

Does it work with +R/+RW media?
What OS are you using?
What Firmware for the TDK?
Any other details?
Thanks.

I have a Lite On 811S brand new with the most current firmware
I am running WIndows XP Pro

I just ordered & installed DVA 2.0 because SOny told me that the Lite on drive was not a listed compatible drive under dva v-1.0.

Guess what v2.0 did not work either. I can prepare but not burn using a minus -DVD. Very frustrating as I can not play pluses in any of my DVD players of which they are the newest ones out there.

Help Any suggestions please.

Thanks for the reply. What I am doing is using nero when I want to burn a "minus" disc. I do hope sony will fix this issue..the Vegas software is too expensive to not support "-" on many writers.

Ditto for the Plextor 708UF and "-" discs not being supported. Sony, please, please fix this issue.

Thank you

I just bought the new Sony DRU-700A, and upgraded to DVDA2...it will not even recgonize the drive if there is a "-" disk in the unit. Replace it with a "+" dick and it works fine. Sony PLEASE support your own hardware, please! I am tired of spending hundreds of dollars on drives and upgrades for absoultely NOTHING. HHHHeeeeellllpppp!!
