If you want to just trigger note on stuff you will need a midi file that has some data in it and you should be able to route in out the appropriate port. As for starting and stopping drum machines or other sequencers you will need to set the time code in the Sync tab of the preferences setup and probably select the Trigger Midi function although many newer synths and drum machines will acccept Midi Time Code. I only use soft synths in Acid so I can't guarantee your success based on my suggestions, but I hope this helps.Luces
