David Bowie is having a contest for people to steal his latest CD and do a "mash up" which he describes as taking the vocals from one song and remixing them to another. Great... just what we need.... I can alread hear the questions... RiRo |

Actually, the contest has been going on for a little while now but I haven't seen anything on the subject, both here and in the ACID forum. Bet there's a lot over in the ACIDplanet forums. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page Guitars 4 Kids |

The questions have started - See post from KronIc - Removing voclas from background - He's quite livid that folks are saying it can't be done. |

You know this is a pretty cool thing. I can't help but think though, how ironic this contest is if you think about it. It seems Vanilla ICE did a mash up of a Bowie song and all hell broke loose and he got his azz sued. Now, the Bowie people are asking you to do this same sort of thing. Maybe it's an entrapment skam? <g> |

so i just checked the samples. i guess i am not getting the idea of this contest, as all the samples are nothing more than excerpts of existing songs, that is to say, the complete audio with beats vocals and everything. i was hoping for some kick ass David Bowie accappella's or even seperate instrument samples to work with. meh... |
