Mackie Universal Tips and Tricks

Since I'm learning this thing on the fly in a big audio project, I thought I would start a thread for those of us who are enjoying/wresting with the new external control features, specifically the Mackie.

Since Mackie provides zilch in the way of manual support and Vegas is threadbare, maybe we can exchange tips and tricks here?

I'll respond to my own note to get it started.

1. Automation from the board works like a dream. Be sure to 'set' the automation from the board and not in the Vegas settings. Push the Read/Off button under Automation and Write to get started. You can also engage touch or latch here.
2. To get best control over pan controls, hit the 'flip' button above your master fader. This puts control of the pan into the faders and its easy to go 100% right or left. Your volume will be in the circular knobs when you hit flip.
3. Since we don't yet have a Vegas overlay, I'm not sure what all the rest of the buttons do yet. I'm still experimenting but trying to do it between recording and pre-mix on a 10 song project.
4. The save button is nice. Light comes on as soon as you have changes that need to be saved. I use this in conjunction with a Contour Shuttle Pro and have reworked the buttons for features not on the Mackie. All works well together.

Master fader is also affected by master buss if you have it showing in your workspace. Its a bit quirky when you have both up and showing in the fader banks. I haven't quite figured out what the deal is there.

Also, when you put names on your busses, they do not show up on the Mackie which continues to show them as Buss A, Buss B etc. This is inconvenient and Sony support is looking into this for repair.
