I was tempted to give the URL for the upgrade link ($199) but thought twice about it thinking SOFO is limiting emails to legal, registered owners. A valid serial number is required, of course, but are they sending the offer only to people they know have legitimate serial numbers? Does anyone know?

DrWho and MIW - Please do not take that the wrong way. It just strikes me as funny that no one has offered the upgrade link in response to your posts.

There's been so much traffic on the forum since yesterday that it's already dropped a few pages down, but SonyBP provides the info you need in this thread:

That's as official an announcement as you'll get, I guess. And there's no problem posting the link as you'll still need to provide your Vegas 4 serial number.

This link takes me to the thread that contains a URL that takes me to a page where it says "Click on the links below to receive your special introductory pricing, good through May 31,", but there are only prices listed, no products associated with the prices.

What is the special e-mail offer for upgrading V4 and DVDA1 to V5and DVDA2, is it $199? You can get it for $249 on their site, I assumed the e-mail offer would beat that price and go for $199

I assure you I have legal copies of all Sonic Foundry/ Sony software, Vegas, Acid, DVDA, Sound Forge 7, Noise Reduction and have always gotten the e-mail offers in the past. I'm sure I'll get the best pricing they offer eventually, but is their best price for a Vegas and DVD Arch. upgrade $199.00?.

I didn't get an email either, so I called Sony Vegas sales yesterday (4/19). They looked up my S/N. and emailed me my upgrade for $199.99. If you prefer the disks and manuel "lite", they said that they will mail them out, with free shipping, within 5 to 8 business days.

Needless to say, it took a while to get through. Good luck.

P.S. Don't expect your rendering times to be reduced with the new version ... especially with the dual pass business. Other than that, I'm very happy thus far with both the new Vegas 5.0 and DVD Architect 2.0

I had the same problem. I have Webwasher installed and the problem went away (the product names/links appeared) when I closed it. Looking forward to playing with 5!

You don't need an email for the combined upgrade, but you do need a serial number for DVDA1.

Go to:

and follow the links for a successful upgrade for $199 without an email.
