Subject:beatmapper doesn't appear after recording

I tried playing some guitar into acid the other day & was surprised that the beatmapper wizard didn't show up when I finished - I tried the same thing with the "make new track follow project tempo" checked & then unchecked but no result either way (I first tried with the box unchecked) - both tracks I recorded were 5 to 6 minutes long. Any idea what's going on? I was going to let the program establish tempo for me & then start inserting & cutting up drum loops to fit the guitar. Strangely enough, I just extracted a song from a CD & the beatmapper came right up at the end of the extraction. |

Did the recorded track show up as Beatmapped in the track list when you chose the "make new track follow project tempo" option? You're really not supposed to see the Beatmapper Wizard either way. It seems that I have recorded old 4 track stuff into acid & I could swear that the wizard came up when the "...follow project tempo track" box was not checked. Am I correct in that assumption? It seems like it was not checked when I first recorded my guitar lines into acid & came up with a beatmapped track but never saw the wizard. |

Hmmm. Odd. If you leave the option checked, you should end up with a Beatmapped track (sans Wizard). If you uncheck the option, you should have a One-shot track. The only time the Beatmapper Wizard should come up is when a track that's longer than 30 seconds (by default) is imported (not recorded) into ACID for the very first time. I see what you're saying...I suppose the work around to this would possibly be to record in Sound Forge first...right? & then import it into acid .- You wouldn't have to go so far as to actually burn the SF -recorded wav file to a CD would you? |

You could certainly record in Sound Forge first, sure. You wouldn't have burn it to CD. Once you record and save in SF and then open/import the track in ACID, the Beatmapper Wizard should launch. Remember that when ACID turns your recording into a Beatmapped track on the fly, it takes the tempo information for the overall project into account. So if your project is 120 BPM, so too also will your recording be a 120 BPM Beatmapped track. (There is no key assigned.) You can, of course, also access the properties of the recorded Beatmapped track after the fact and re-Beatmap via the "Beatmapper Wizard" button under the Stretch tab. Yeah...thanks MD, for setting me straight on that - I've been recording into acid for some time now & often extracting from CDs that a friend had sent of his playing & it can often be confusing as to when the beat mapper wizard follows what process. |
