It doesn't matter. Most people seem to be running both versions initially.

Yes, but....will deleting the old version later perhaps cause problems with VERSION 5 due to similar files being used by both??

No, Vegas 5.0 and Vegas4.0 live in separate folders. Removing one should not affect the other.

I qualify for the Free upgrade of V5 and DVD2. I was told by Sony that there is a rebate section of this site where I can place the order, I can't find it? Anyone know where it is? How big are the downloadable versions?

http://bssc.sel.sony.com/Professional/markets/sound/vegas_rebate.html

Go to that page and see the links.

The downloads are several files and are 140 meg, plus Boris and Magic Bullet, so probably under 200 meg.

I have Vegas 4.0d and have just purchased the V5.0 upgrade. My Vegas 4 has the Vegas ac3 encoder installed as well as Pixilan Spicemaster 2.0. Will the Vegas 5.0 install pick all this up as well as my mpeg 1 and 2 registrations? Or will I need to reinstall these all over again and re-register the mpeg encoders?

Oh can I try this one? Spicemaster shows up fine. So does WAX and the Zenote stuff. Ac3 is not there however. I dunno if reinsatlling that would matter because doesn;t the "new" ac3 encoder have to have the Sony thing going on? I have no issues with Mpeg or MP3. So it seems like Ac3 coming over might be an issue - however I think that is you just bought Version 5 your new SN will unlock AC3 anyway...I could be wrong.
