I don't think it's an update since the build number is the same. Not sure why they would put it into the update section though.

Vegas 5.0a is the current version. Version 5.0 is what is on the original batch of CDs. So, if you order a CD, you'll need to use this download version to be current.

That is correct. The original 5.0 release is on CD only and its build 122. This being a "PFW" (Package for the Web) release is different than the CD as its build 134 and it contains a bunch more fixes we got in after the realease of 5.0.

Therefore Vegas 5.0a build 134 is the most upto date and the only version available for download.

Vegas 5.0a build 134 will update build 122 from the CD image so no need to unistall that if you have it (I doubt anyone does have it as the CD's have prolly not left the duplicators yet)

If you are a beta tester and have any build of Vegas 5.0 installed : please UN-install that build and install this PFW fresh. We support updates from release versions only officially. Not saying that updating to 134 from any other build besides 122 will work. Its just not a tested scenario.

5.0 will live happily with Vegas 4.0 installed on the same machine.

SonyIMC:

I see two downloads available - What's the difference between the "Vegas 5.0a Build 134" available on the "Update" page, and the "Vegas 5.0a Build 134" available on the "Trials and Demos" page? They have different file names

Bummer about no Win 98SE support... :(

Now I have to get a new PC to go with a new OS, since my Dell won't support an OS upgrade...

The one in "available on the "Trials and Demos""

is a trial

The one in "Update"

is the update to 5.0

They are both the same product, one is just set up to be trial. If you like you can buy from the trial and it will nearly instantly turn into the full app.

"I doubt anyone does have it as the CD's have prolly not left the duplicators yet"

So Vegas 5 isn't ready to ship yet??
SonyIMC wrote on 4/19/2004, 10:56 AM
Theres a difference between "ready to ship" (when dev signs off and its all done) and "being done at the duplicators" (the actual massproduction of the physical product)

The later takes more time.

The PFW is immediatly placed onto servers for your convenience as soon as its ready.
