I have just recently got acid 4 and i can insert busses and fx ok, the
icon comes up next to the sound. But i cant get the soft synth
icon there. I have installed the vst plugins available and can play
around with the sounds but i cant get the sounds onto the track.

any suggestions?

I'm a little bit confused.

Anyways, here's the whole VSTI routine :
1. Open a new project.Make sure that that your mixer window is open.( menu - view - mixer )
2.Right click within empty area in your mixer window.Choose - insert soft synth . Choose your soft synth .
3.Right click within empty area in your main window. Choose insert a midi track .
( you can skip the step three if you decided to play live .In that case just click on your soft synth ,press the record button ,choose midi and start recording ).
NOTE:Don't forget to turn on Real-Time Midi option (menu - options - unable real time midi ) .
That's pretty much it ,the rest depends on your sound card/acid settings .
Does it help?
