I have the opportunity to choose one CD of Acid Loops. The question is, which? I mostly use the program to build incedental music for the home movies I edit on Vegas Video, so I'm not interested in the more techno or experimental sounds. Right now, I'm leaning toward "Cinematix 2." Anybody out there know this CD? My Vegas 3.0 came (two years ago) with a huge variety of bundled loop samples, SFX and sound beds, and I believe that many of the loops of Cinematix 1 were included in the bundle (the sample titles on the CD web page look very familiar). I'd hate to waste my CD gift on something I may already have. Anybody know if "Cinematix 2" is as fresh as I believe it is? Or is there another CD that would help a family guy create the coolest home movies ever? Thanks! |

It's good... but I will ALWAYS vote Metarock Visions as the 'best loop CD,' if there is such a thing... David. |

I just picked up the Bill Laswell Sample Material CD off of ebay. I'm not sure it's still in print under Sony (it's NOT on their Loops for Acid page), but I was amazed how complete it was. Great for any style, I should think. |

So you think Metarock Visions is better than ACID Rock? I’m looking for a good Rock library too and I’m trying to decide what to buy. I play keyboards so I don’t really care about keyboard loops but I’m looking for good guitar, bass and drum loops. I’m thinking of buying some drum loops from BetaMonkeymusic.com. Chris at beta monkey seems to have a nice collection of rock drum loops to choose from. But I still need to find great guitars, bass, etc. ~jr |

grantg: If you're looking for something cinematic, I'd imagine anything under the "Cinematic & Sound Beds" category would serve you well. It just depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for slow pads or orchestral-type material, for example? (I saw Laswell's Sample Material there, BTW.) I'd second Metarock Visions too just because it's a great library. Thanks, but I think I'll probably take my chances with "Cinematix 2." I need something for my home movies that has a pretty good variety of beds, loops and stings but without the more "out there" stuff. Anybody familiar with "Cinematix 2"? |

I have Cinematix 2. It's fine, but not as "cinematic" as you might think. Slow Silhouette and Spektral Minimalsim are nice for "background washes." Acid Rock is a great all-around bread & butter lib as is Metarock visions. Personally, I've used Acid Rock more. |
