I ripped a few tracks off a solo piano CD with a lot of fortissimo high-pitched notes. The playback off hard drive sounds fine. After burning the tracks to CD-R, I can hear what sounds like over-recorded distortion (flutter) on those loud high-pitched notes. I made a test cd by ripping and burning a tune from that disc in all possible speeds (1X-max 48x), producing no noticeable difference in distortion at any speed. Also peculiar was the fact that, regardless of the speed employed, the burning time seemed to be the same - about 20-30 secs for a 5 min song despite the fact that the timing read-out underneath the LED indicator varied with the speed input. Any suggestions?
