no asio in SF7?

No, not at this time (if ever).

As an aside, it's really not so big a deal; ASIO is geared towards low-latency recording, which really isn't an issue with a mono/stereo digital audio editor.

Also, ASIO can be fickle. A user can have problems using ASIO in, say, both ACID and Vegas if they're open and running at the same time, even if the ASIO drivers were designed to be multi-client.

mD, you're right on. ASIO has its moments...the rest of the time it'll crash your machine.
Hit record: Crash. Open a program that supports ASIO but don't use it: Crash. Think of the drivers: Crash.

I'm using the ASIO drivers for the DigiDesign mBox (I know, they suck) and voila, crash central. ACID Pro only crashes when I use ASIO. (I know, I'm lucky.) Good wave drivers for hardware are becoming more common (though not for the mBox...those suck too...) and latency issues are being worked out as PC power goes up. MS Sound Mapper won't crash your machine...usually. ASIO freaks out all the time. Avoid it.

I've had exceptional results with Vegas4 live recording multichannel using RME Hammerfall with ASIO driver on Sony Notebook computer. Also editing with RME DIGI96PST sound card on desktop computer, with Vegas4 open, then select a song, Ctrl-E to open in SF6, edit in SF using Wave driver, switch back to Vegas, go to next song, etc. No crashes at all.

metrazol,

I've used the Digidesign ASIO driver with ACID Pro 4 and Vegas 4 with no problems with both Digi001 and Digi002rack. Maybe something else is not set up properly.

If you can't get it resolved here, try the DUC.
