This morning I tried applying an effects chain I had made some time ago and I got an error message saying that Acid couldn't find some parts of the chain. I wondered if Sony taking over Sonic Foundry had anything to do with this. I remembered something about migration of plug-ins. I tried to migrate but windows was unable to find sf2sony.exe whatever that is. My next try was to go on-line and download the XFX1 plug-in update since these seem to be the plug-ins that are missing. I ran the update and the missing plug appeared - as demos! I tried to enter the serial number I had that came with the original CD from Sonic Foundry and got an incorrect serial number message. I'm not getting strange blipping noises when playing Acid. Seems my plug are whacked.

Any ideas to sort this out would be appreciated. Do I need to junk Acid 4.0f and go back to the version before - if I can?

What about re-updating (reloading) 4.0f?

Thanks for the advice. I tried repair but that didn't work. I ended up completely uninstalling Acid, Sound Forge 7.0 and XFX1. Reinstalled them all and was forced to re-register them. They seem to be working but I'm worried that the plug-ins will quit after 7 days. My registration number was rejected. Knowledge base Answer ID 449 states that serial numbers are XX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX. However mine has a different pattern XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXX. I've had them ages. Guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed.
