If your runing Windows XP: load Acid and then load the windows cpu manager. it should be around 1-5% CPU usage depending on the number of background tasks. now push play in Acid with 0 tracks and 0 plugins. What is the windows cpu manager reading now ?????

Hello, mine was running at between 5 and 15% before pressing Play. With 0 tracks and 0 plugins pressing play made no difference.

What do you get?

Same here. Hovers around 3-4% and stays there.

when I hit play with no tracks or pluginsin acid or cubase 5.1, Windows Task Manager reads 75-90% CPU usage. Therfore its not an Acid problem!
I think I have a bit of work in front of me with this one?
Thanks for your input guys. Now I have a refrence point to work from.
